Products are made to be sold. To sell a product you must get the customer to see your product, like your product and then want or hopefully desire your product. If the customer can't physically pick up the product and examine, touch, smell or feel it such as in the case of selling by catalogue, flyer, advertisement or online then it is vital to represent the product in the best possible light. Firstly one can describe the product either verbally or in text or secondly you can show an image or animation of the product. Without referring to research studies of which method works - most people agree that “seeing is believing” and thus good product photography is the key to good product sales. Now that it has been established that you need good photography to sell, why are there so many examples of poor product photography around? To photograph a product really well, takes good equipment, good lighting, lots of expertise and finally lots of post processing computer expertise.
